Citizen-led solutions to America’s social and political problems.
America’s Plan is my proposal for a way the average person who wants to help solve America’s social and political problems can actually do it, on their own time and on their own terms. Voting every few years matters, but it isn’t enough on its own, and the usual options in between (protesting, writing your representative, signing a petition) don’t fit everyone’s style, schedule, or comfort level. America’s Plan is my attempt at something that does.
America’s Plan is a permanent, citizen-led organization: the citizen-side counterpart to every special-interest group already working the system. Organized money already has permanent, funded capacity to shape policy: lobbyists, research, and sustained coordination that outlasts any single election. Ordinary people have never had the equivalent. America’s Plan is that structure.
How it works
The idea is simple, even if building it well isn’t. It works in six steps:
- Learn: come understand a social or political issue that matters to you
- Connect: find other people who care about the same thing
- Deliberate: work it out together, refine the idea, turn it into an actual solution
- Advocate: build public sentiment and support for that solution
- Represent: carry it to the people who represent us
- Follow up: track it after implementation to make sure it actually holds
America’s Plan does not change government in any way. It changes the input government receives. It works entirely within the existing constitutional, representative system (federal, state, and local) by giving ordinary citizens a serious, organized channel to shape that system the way concentrated interests already do. No issue is too big or too small.
What it needs now
I’ll be upfront about where this stands: it’s idealistic, and there are real, unresolved obstacles between the idea and it working at scale. Getting enough people involved. Holding up under real disagreement. Proving the model in practice. I don’t have all of that solved yet. But I believe this fits a genuine, unmet need in American society right now, and that’s the case I want to make here.
One thing I’ve learned over decades as an entrepreneur: you don’t have to solve every problem before a project can move forward. You just have to solve enough of them to take the next step. Long-term planning matters, but it can’t become an excuse for staying on the sidelines. That’s the spirit this is built in: not a finished blueprint, but a real, working start, with the rest figured out along the way.
The infrastructure this runs on (a website, a discussion forum, and a public wiki) is in place. What it needs now isn’t more architecture. It needs people: the first builders willing to show up, pick an issue they care about, and start doing the work.
